Good news for fantasy players, Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson will play against the Kansas City Chiefs according to ESPN.
While it is good news for those who own Anderson, it is bad news for fantasy owners that picked up Ronnie Hillman this week on the waiver wire. Both players had 12 carries in the first week but that was likely due to Anderson getting injured.
He struggled against the Ravens defense and had just 29 yards. Hillman did have the better game with 41 yards, but Anderson’s injured toe likely played a part in his poor play. It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back tonight against the Chiefs.
Should you start Anderson on your fantasy lineup? You have to continue to stick with the running back who you likely selected as a first round pick. ESPN had him ranked as the seventh best player overall before the season started and the sixth best running back.
It was likely just a bad first game for the Broncos offense as a whole. The offense could continue to struggle tonight on a short week and against a difficult Chiefs defense. However, this early in the season you continue to play your studs until you have a larger sample size to work with.
For those holding onto Ronnie Hillman, it is wise to keep him on your bench just in case Anderson’s health does not hold up. Hillman is one of the most valuable backup running backs you can have in fantasy right now.
