The Indianapolis Colts will again turn to backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck
ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a source, said the Colts would rest Andrew Luck for Thursday’s game. Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network said Luck would throw in pregame but expected Hasselbeck to get the start.
The report was later confirmed by the Colts.
Luck has been dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out of Sunday’s win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He suffered the injury in the team’s comeback victory against the Tennessee Titans in Week Three. A source told Indy Sports Central’s Chris Hagan that Luck suffered a partially separated shoulder.
According to Indy Sports Central’s Mike Chappell, Luck was limited in practice this week but expressed optimism in returning to the starting lineup. The team re-signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson as an insurance policy. Hasselbeck missed practice Tuesday because of an illness. He returned to full participation Wednesday but was listed as “questionable” on the Week Five injury report.
The Colts play the Houston Texans Thursday night on our sister station, CBS4.
