In Game 3 of the ALCS Monday night, the Blue Jays' offense broke out in their first win of the series (TOR 11, KC 8). Kansas City still leads the best-of-seven series two games to one.
The Royals have quietly scored a ton runs this offseason. They're averaging 5.50 runs per game in October and have scored at least five runs in their last five games. In Game 4 Tuesday, they hung a four-spot on R.A. Dickey in the first inning (GameTracker):
Ex-big leaguer Paul O'Neill, now a broadcaster for the Yankees, always says that when you score a bunch of runs late in a blowout loss, it carries over to the next day. Well, the Royals scored four runs in the ninth inning of Game 3, then scored four in the first inning of Game 4. The O'Neill Theory was in full effect!
The Royals tacked on another run in the second inning to knock Dickey out of the game. But, as we've seen this postseason, no deficit is too big to overcome.
